Distinguished Speaker Lunch Series with Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell

ABOUT THE EVENT Step into the heart of Seattle’s future as Mayor Bruce Harrell joins us at the top of the tower for an inspiring conversation moderated by Jon Scholes, President & CEO of the Downtown Seattle Association. The first Asian American and biracial mayor in the city’s history, Harrell has built his leadership on the values of justice, compassion, and community. From public safety and homelessness to downtown revitalization, innovation, and inclusivity, he will reflect on his first term and share his vision for the Emerald City’s path forward. Co-hosted by Josh Ayala, CEO of Perfect Day Games, Sam Cho, Port of Seattle Commissioner, and Will Daugherty. ABOUT THE MAYOR "Bruce Harrell was born in Seattle to an African American father who was one of the first Black union lineman at Seattle City Light, and a Japanese American mother who had been incarcerated at Minidoka during World War II. His mother "Rose" worked for the Seattle Public Library and was elected to the Seattle City Credit Union Board of Directors. He is Seattle's first Asian American and first biracial mayor and Seattle's second Black mayor. From an early age to today, Bruce has drawn from the experiences of his parents and lessons learned from his youth to challenge injustice, celebrate the diversity of our communities, and bring people together around our shared Seattle values. . ." ABOUT THE MODERATOR "Jon Scholes is president & CEO of the Downtown Seattle Association where he is responsible for the operations and programs of the DSA, a 650-member association formed in 1958 to create a healthy, vibrant downtown. In this capacity, Jon is also responsible for the management of the Metropolitan Improvement District (MID), which was established by property owners and the City of Seattle in 1999 to provide cleaning, safety, transportation, marketing and public-realm management services across 285 square blocks in downtown. . ."
